Dwarves average four feet in height, with squat, broad bodies. Male dwarves grow thick facial hair. It is often a sign of extreme sadness and mourning for a dwarf to shave his beard. Some female of the species grow beards as well, dwarven opinion on female beards is varried by clan, sometimes prized, sometimes shaved.
The dwarves believe themselves to be the creations of Odenthor According to their legends, Odenthor fashioned the dwarves into a likeness of himself using precious metals and stone. He then breathed life into them. Gradually dwarves turned to flesh over the course of many generations.
Dwarves get along fine with gnomes, particularly in the Deepinghome where both races are equal in both numbers and esteee. The dwarves of Lothis Breck in Athalin have a deep affection for humans who sheltered them on the surface against a duegar threat for many generations. Dwarves are accepting of half-elves and halflings. Dwarves often do not get to know individual humans well as they would like as they live longer than the average human, and prefer to become friendly with the humans' family in general. Dwarves have a mistrustment of half orcs, and a failure to appreciate elves, who they only ally with in their many battles against orcs, goblins, gnolls, bugbears and trolls.
House Rules
Racialy Favored Class. If a dwarf choses cleric or fighter as a favored class they recieve both +1 skill point and +1 hit point (rather than one or the other) any time they take a level in that class. This choice must be made at 1st level and cannot be changed.
