Disciple Of The God-Lich

Back to Prestige Classes

There are many Clerics of Ludimar; most act out of abject fear of their dark master. Knowing the inevitability of death, they strive to placate the master of their eventual fate. Disciples of the God-Lich are of a rather different stroke. They look forward to their demise knowing full well that their dark souls will endure. Disciples see the God-Lich as a powerful patron, but neither love nor fear him, considering him instead a powerful tool to further their own ends. Disciples are the generals of the God-Lich’s armies with the ability to command mighty hosts of undead. Many disciples seek to become powerful undead themselves.
Hit Die: d8.

Class Features

All of the following are features of the Disciple of the God-Lich prestige class.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Disciples of the God-Lich are proficient with all simple weapons. They gain no proficiency with armor.
Spells per Day/Spells Known: Starting at 2nd level, whenever a new Disciple of the God-Lich level is gained, the character gains new spells per day (and spells known, if applicable) as if he had also gained a level in whatever divine spellcasting class in which he could cast 5th-level spells before he added the prestige class level. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. If a character had more than one divine spellcasting class in which he could cast 5th-level spells before he became a Disciple of the God-Lich, he must decide to which class he adds each level of Disciple of the God-Lich for the purpose of determining spells per day.
Black Touch (Su): Disciples of the God-Lich are masters of negative energy. At will they may make a melee touch attack against a living foe that deals 1d8 plus 1 per two class levels of negative energy damage up to a maximum of +5. The Black Touch heals undead creatures for 1d8 hit point per touch plus 1 per two class levels. It is otherwise identical to a Lich’s negative energy attack.
Rebuke Undead (Su): Disciple of the God-Lich class levels stack with levels of all other classes that grant the ability to rebuke undead for the purpose of determining the character’s effective cleric level for rebuking. See Turn or Rebuke undead, page 159 of the Player’s Handbook.
Chosen of Ludimar (Ex): Disciples of the God-Lich are favored among their religion and attract throngs of followers both living and dead; they receive Leadership as a bonus feat and may take undead creatures as followers using the hit dice of these creatures in place of follower level. Undead followers can be acquired through the Disciple of the God-Lich’s command undead ability and are commanded in addition to the regular hit dice the character may command. Please see section 3.2 for revised rules governing the Leadership feat. If employing this class outside the realm of these house rules, the Disciple of the God-Lich may also gain an undead cohort.
Lich Skin (Ex): Beginning at 3rd level a Disciple of the God-Lich begins to acquire the physiology of a Lich and becomes less prone to damage. Initially the Disciple of the God-Lich receives DR 2/ Bludgeoning and Magic; this increases to DR 4/ Bludgeoning and Magic at 5th level, DR 6/ Bludgeoning and Magic at 7th level and DR 8/ Bludgeoning and Magic at 9th level.
Paralyzing Touch (Su): At 5th level any creature hit with a Disciple of the God-Lich’s Black Touch attack must succeed on a Fortitude save (DC 10 + ½ character level + Cha modifier) or be paralyzed for 1d4 days. Remove Paralysis or any spell that can remove a curse can free the victim (see the Bestow Curse spell description).
The effect cannot be dispelled. Anyone paralyzed by a Disciple of the God-Lich seems dead, though a DC 20 Spot check or a DC 15 Heal check reveals that the victim is still alive.
Blessing of Ludimar (Ex): At 10th level a Disciple of the God-Lich receives extra benefits should they choose to craft a phylactery in order to become a Lich. Firstly, they need not plan their transformation; in the event of their untimely death their soul travels to the phylactery and they are raised as a Lich 1d10 days thereafter. Secondly, once they complete the transformation they grow a pair of black raven’s wings which enable them to fly at twice their base land speed with average maneuverability.
